As part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), PT Medco Power Indonesia continues to drive various community empowerment initiatives. Through its subsidiary, PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal (MCG) partnered with the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Group of Kali Gedang Village, Ijen District, Bondowoso Regency held a program focuses on developing the local economy based on natural resources and active community involvement.
Kali Gedang Village, known for its abundant natural resources, provides a strong foundation for product development. Through this collaboration, the local community, together with Medco, has developed a regional herbal beverage, Ginger Pandan Tea, also known as Teh Japan. This product is an innovation of the local PKK women, utilizing natural commodities such as ginger and pandan. PT MCG has provided full support, including facilitating production, purchasing products, and offering guidance in packaging and promotion.
Bapak Novianto, General Manager of PT MCG, emphasized that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to growing alongside the community.
“We believe that community empowerment must be carried out collaboratively and sustainably. Our collaboration with PKK Kali Gedang is a tangible expression of our support for local potential. We hope that Ginger Pandan Tea will not only be recognized locally but also be competitive in broader markets,” expressed Bapak Novianto.
This partnership aims to enhance the economic independence of the community, strengthen the capacity of women in community-based entrepreneurship, and add value to the local natural wealth. For Medco, such collaborations are expected to serve as a model for inclusive empowerment with long-term impact.
With collective spirit, Ginger Pandan Tea is expected not only to become a local culinary icon but also to open new economic opportunities for the people of Kali Gedang Village.
