Medco Power Indonesia, through its subsidiary Medco Cahaya Geothermal (MCG), conducted an industrial visit program to 25 students from SMK Negeri 1 Sempol, Bondowoso Regency in mid-June. The activity was held at the Blawan Ijen Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) facility.
The eleventh-grade students, specializing in Electric Power Generation Technology gained direct insights into geothermal power generation as one of the clean and sustainable renewable energy sources. They participated in technical briefings and a site tour to key areas such as the production wells, power generation facilities, and the Central Control Room (CCR).
The activity began with a safety induction, followed by a technical presentation led by MCG’s Geothermal Technical Head and the Blawan Ijen PLTP engineering team. The session covered fundamental concepts, system operations, and the latest technologies in geothermal power generation—ensuring that all activities adhered to strict safety and operational protocols.
All participants were local youth from the surrounding areas of the Blawan Ijen PLTP. Beyond education, the visit also strengthened ties between the education and industrial sectors while fostering awareness of the region’s renewable energy potential.
Bapak Novianto, General Manager of Medco Cahaya Geothermal, stated, “Collaboration with the education sector is a vital investment in the future of national energy. We hope this visit inspires students to take an active role in the energy transition, especially by leveraging the geothermal potential in their own region.”
Through this initiative, Medco Power reaffirms its commitment to supporting vocational education and preparing the next generation to contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s energy transition.
