Medco Power Indonesia, through its subsidiary PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal (MCG), has been awarded the PRATAMA Award in the categories of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Geothermal Engineering for non-producing work areas (project stage). The award was presented at the EBTKE Stakeholder Appreciation Night 2024 last December and was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, Director General of EBTKE Eniya Dewi, and Director of Geothermal, Gigih Udi Atmo. Meanwhile, Femi Sastrena, Director & Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer of Medco Power, and Novianto, General Manager of MCG received the award.
The assessment for the OHS and Geothermal Engineering categories covered aspects such as policy, organizational structure, competency of OHS personnel, and safety of equipment, work environment, work methods and processes, as well as accident and occupational health management procedures. The assessment was conducted in the site office, road infrastructure, wellpad, and surface facilities, as indicators of the application of safety and engineering standards in the MCG work area.
Femi Sastrena stated, “This award serves as motivation for the MCG and Medco Power teams to continue prioritizing occupational health and safety by adopting best practices in the geothermal sector. We hope that the Blawan Ijen Geothermal Power Plant can contribute positively to the development of the renewable energy industry in Indonesia.”
