Medco Power Reinforces Private Sector Role in Accelerating National Energy Transition

Medco Power reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the development of clean and renewable energy in International Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2025, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) last week.

This national-scale event was attended by members of the Indonesian cabinet, including Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Forestry and Environment Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo. Together with key stakeholders, they underscored Indonesia’s new direction toward a green economy and a sustainable energy transition.

In the Plenary session, “Unleashing Green Electricity,” President Director and CEO of Medco Power Indonesia, Bapak Eka Satria, served as a panelist alongside global leaders from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LONGi Group, ACWA Power, and the International Energy Agency (IEA).

He highlighted Indonesia’s renewable energy potential of 3,686 GW, of which only about 0.4% has been utilized. According to him, cross-sector collaboration is key to accelerating the energy transition and strengthening Indonesia’s position as a green energy hub in Southeast Asia.

On the second day, Bapak Eka Satria returned for a High-Level Discussion in his capacity as Chairman of the Indonesian Private Power Producers Association (APLSI). He asserted the private sector’s readiness to support the energy transition through clear policy frameworks, flexible grid access, and investment collaboration, which he believes can drive the industrialization of the energy transition and establish Indonesia as a clean energy leader in the region.

Further contributing to Medco Power’s presence, Bapak Adrianto Darmoyo, VP of Solar & Wind, participated in the Climate Talk session: “Indonesia’s Path to Sustainable Growth.” He shared the company’s experience in developing the Sumbawa Solar Power Plant (PLTS) and various wind energy projects, while also stressing the critical importance of green financing and sustainable technological innovation to achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

Medco Power’s participation in IISF 2025 underscores MedcoEnergi’s commitment to supporting the national energy transition through the strategic Pulau Bulan Solar Power Plant (PLTS) project in the Riau Islands, with a capacity of over 2,000 MWp. This project has received a Conditional License from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and aligns with the MoU between Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade & Industry.

This initiative is part of MedcoEnergi’s roadmap to accelerate renewable energy development, drive cross-business efficiency, and pursue decarbonization toward a greener and more sustainable energy future for Indonesia.
