Towards Renewable Energy: Medco Power Develops Wind Power Plant in West Sumbawa

Medco Power Indonesia has completed the installation of two 140-meter measurement towers in West Sumbawa Regency. This milestone marks an important initial step in the development of the company’s first wind power plant project.

This installation is part of an initial feasibility study aimed at gaining a comprehensive understanding of local conditions and assessing the region’s potential for renewable energy development.

This initiative reflects Medco Power Indonesia’s continued commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio while supporting Indonesia’s national energy transition. “This initiative represents an important learning phase for Medco Power as we move toward the development of our first wind power project,” said Bapak Femi Sastrena, Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) of Medco Power Indonesia. “By taking this first step, we are building a strong foundation to ensure that future projects are developed responsibly, sustainably, and with long-term value.” He added.

Over the next 12 months, the measurement towers will collect specific wind resource and meteorological data to support further analysis and evaluation. The data obtained will serve as a critical basis for subsequent planning stages, ensuring any proposed project is technically sound, environmentally responsible, and commercially viable.

Following the completion of the installation phase, Medco Power Indonesia will proceed to the next stage of studies. These will include detailed data analysis, assessments of infrastructure and grid readiness, as well as environmental and social evaluations to determine the long-term feasibility of wind power development in West Sumbawa Regency.
