Jakarta, 25 October 2021 – Medco Power with Consortium partners, PacificLight Power Pte Ltd (PLP) and Gallant Venture Ltd, a Salim Group company, will develop a pilot Solar Power Import Project from Indonesia to Singapore at Pulau Bulan Island, Kepulauan Riau Province following the award of an in-principle import license from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA). The Project is expected to have an installed capacity of 670 MWp in the initial phase, which will provide 100 MW equivalent of non-intermittent electricity to Singapore. This project is in line with the Singapore government’s plan to implement the Singapore Green Plan 2030 program to increase the share of renewable energy.

The Consortium signed a Joint Development Agreement during the Singapore International Energy Week on 25 October 2021 which was witnessed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resource of the Republic of Indonesia, The Second Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, Indonesia Ambassador for Singapore, and Chief Executive of EMA.

Eka Satria, CEO of Medco Power, said, “As one of Indonesia’s leading independent power producers that is committed to clean and renewable energy, we have proven experience in successfully developing renewable power projects such as Sarulla and Ijen geothermal, as well as a solar PV plant in Sumbawa to support our own mining operations. We are delighted to be working with PLP and Salim Group in the development of the Bulan Island Solar PV Project. This project will be beneficial for Indonesia, by increasing renewable energy investment, creating job opportunities and related industries.”

Roberto Lorato, CEO of MedcoEnergi added, “This project is part of MedcoEnergi’s commitment on Climate Change and its plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio.”
