PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal (MCG), a subsidiary of Medco Power, received the top award at the PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) Awards 2026, themed “Delivering Impact, Driving Sustainability,” held on 22 April 2026.
The award recognizes MCG’s consistent implementation of sustainable business practices, as well as its effective environmental and social management efforts in ensuring that projects deliver added value to the company, local communities, and the environment. The award was received by Bapak Femi Sastrena, Director & Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer of Medco Power, who was accompanied by Bapak Novianto, VP Geothermal of Medco Power.
In his remarks, Bapak Femi highlighted that the Ijen Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP Ijen), as the first geothermal power plant in East Java, represents the second strategic collaboration in the renewable energy sector between Medco Power and SMI. The partnership began with the development of the Sumbawa Solar Power Plant (PLTS Sumbawa), which has been operational since 2022. “With a strong commitment to renewable energy, we hope that the collaboration between Medco Power and SMI will continue to grow in the future,” he said.
This ESS Award adds to the growing list of accolades previously received by MCG, including the PRATAMA award in the geothermal project category at the Stakeholder Appreciation event organized by the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), the Best Project Finance Deal award at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2025, and recognition as the Best Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the Technology and Innovation category at the Indonesia Best Electricity Award (IBEA).
This recognition reinforces Medco Power’s ongoing commitment to delivering responsible energy solutions while creating meaningful value for communities and the environment, with continued collaboration expected to further strengthen its impact in the renewable energy sector.
